Using the Akashic Records to live your true purpose (part 1)

If you’ve been part of my community for a bit, you’ve likely heard me talk about the Akashic Records at length – what they are, how they work, how they can help us heal, etc.

But I realized I haven’t shared enough about the REAL, practical, day-to-day ways in which the Akashic Records can support us… and transform our lives.

So, I figured I’d start with some examples from my own life.

(I first accessed the Records 20 years ago, and they’ve been a constant companion for me ever since – supporting my growth and life path in COUNTLESS ways.)

If you’re willing to go back in time with me a little, here’s a story…

Back in 2015, I was still teaching literature – primarily Shakespeare – at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, while I completed the final years of my PhD in English lit.

My long-term plan was to get hired for a tenure-track position (so, i.e., having job security “for life”).

During one summer break, I opened my emails and saw something that both delighted and frightened me: an invitation to speak at Harvard in the fall semester, on a panel of up-and-coming Shakespeare scholars.

At the time, this was a BIG DEAL. The biggest deal of my academic career.

It was a chance to present my research in a room full of highly respected professors and academics who might be interviewing (and hiring) me in the near future.

So I put the nervousness aside, and said YES. I’ll speak on this panel, of course!

Garrett – my boyfriend at the time, now husband – and I packed a few bags and drove to Harvard for the talk (we live a couple of hours away, in Western Massachusetts).

I brought one of my dissertation chapters and presented it on the panel as planned. I breezed through the Q&A afterwards, since my dissertation advisor had prepped me with all the right questions in advance.

Part of me felt so accomplished, so thrilled, so relieved that it had gone so well… it felt like the pinnacle of my academic career.

But… at the very same time…

While I gave the talk and thoughtfully answered all of the follow-up questions, another part of me floated up and out of my body.

This part of me – my Higher Self – observed this scene unfolding beneath, and whispered these words:

There’s somewhere else you’re meant to be…

Doing something else…

Teaching something else…

And you’re being called to go there now.

My first reaction was:

Huh????

How do I respond to this??

What do I do with this??

It was confusing and disorienting to receive that message… so I resisted it at first. (Which we often do as humans!)
