This month, I’ve been teaching a new Soul Purpose Workshop for Akashic Record practitioners.
A workshop student asked an important question this week:
“How is asking for guidance from the Akashic Records different from wanting someone outside of us to give us the answers?”
I wanted to break this down and offer a clear explanation of the VAST difference between these two things.
#1: Intention Really Matters.
First of all, intention really matters. How we’re seeking guidance, what kinds of questions we’re asking (and how we’re asking them), and what we’re believing about ourselves in the process really matters.
If we believe that we’re incapable of finding the answers within ourselves — or that some other person out there has the answers for us — then we’re going to seek guidance from a place of scarcity and maybe even unworthiness.
This makes it much more likely that we’re going to give our power away to an external source of guidance — whether that’s a friend, relative, therapist, healer, teacher, mentor, or whoever else.
Of course, seeking help from a skilled and compassionate healer, therapist, or mentor can be one of the most important and life-changing things we can do — but it’s key to work with someone who KNOWS we hold the power within ourselves, we hold the answers within ourselves, and it’s not their “job” to give us the answers… rather, their responsibility is to help us connect to our own power and inner knowing.
#2: The Akashic Records are not actually “outside” of us.
The illusion of separation (a predominant illusion on the 3D plane) has made us believe that we’re SEPARATE from each other and from the Universe.
Therefore, we may fall into the illusion that we’re also separate from the Akashic Records… that the Records are somewhere existing “outside” of us.
The truth is that the Akashic Records are held in the vast Universal Field all around us, in us, and through us — WE are made of and part of that Field as well, because everything is energy (including us).
This means that we’re part of the SAME energetic field as the Akashic Records, and ultimately made of the same Universal Substance.
When we shed the illusion of separation, we remember that we’re not actually isolated, not actually separate, and that we ourselves are part of the Records.
And the Records are part of us.
This is why connecting deeply to the Akashic Field so often feels like an experience of “coming home.”
So, when you consciously seek guidance from the Records — without giving any of your power away — you’re tapping into Universal Wisdom and a higher field of consciousness, which is your Divine birthright.
#3: The Akashic Records give you access to your Highest Self.
The Records help you connect to the wisest, most connected, most intuitive, multidimensional, Highest aspects of yourself.
The Records give you access to Universal Consciousness — and, again, YOU are part of that Universe and part of that consciousness.
We could also put it this way: the Records grant you access to your own “Higher Mind” — your capacity to think, perceive, know, see, and understand reality and everything that’s happening on the human plane from a more evolved, conscious, HIGHER vantage point.
As you tap into your Highest Self in the Akashic Field, you awaken your multidimensional gifts and liberate potent energies of creativity, wisdom, and healing — both for yourself and to share with others.
So, the more you connect to the Records, the more you become SOVEREIGN and empowered… and the more you can shed the old paradigm of seeking answers from “outside” of yourself.
I’d love to know how this lands, and if questions or insights come up for you.

with love,
Josephine
